Grounds Maintenance SALARY: $ 16.00/hr (Temporary/Non-Benefitted) *Full-time and part time schedules available in July through August 13th* CLOSING: Open Until Filled DEPARTMENT: Fair (Hermiston, OR) Description: Assist with grounds preparations for annual County Fair set-up and post fair tear-down. Requirements: High school diploma or GED. Previous experience in the maintenance field related to the above described duties. Knowledge of carpentry, landscaping, irrigation systems and related tools and equipment. Valid Oregon Driver's License. Ability to routinely lift in excess of 50 pounds; to work at heights, and to operate and maintain machines and equipment. Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate effectively both in verbally and in writing. Must communicate using proper grammar. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred. Experience/familiarity with the tasks detailed above. Ability to work well with others is a must. Knowledge and ability to safely operate: tractors (certification preferred), sit down lawnmower, fork lift (certification preferred), man lifts, all-terrain vehicles etc. Knowledge and compliance of OSHA Rules and ability to supervise work crew to OSHA standards. Be prepared and able to handle constant interruptions and have the ability to multi-task. This is a temporary position working in preparation of the Fair in July and Aug. Weekend and evening work required . All Umatilla grounds/facilities are tobacco free. Smoking, chewing, vaping, or other such products are prohibited.
