General Description Under the direction of the Inspection Manager, the Inspection Technician will provide mechanical and technical service to customer regarding inspections, maintenance, service, repairs, rebuilds, new machine installations and upgrades to all types of blast equipment. As an Inspection Technician, you will inspect current and potential BCT customers' shot blast equipment. Inspection Technicians will lend mechanical and technical expertise to our customer base while supporting our sales team to grow parts and service revenue. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. Ability to travel 80+% of the week, mostly driving, including overnights. Ability to work extremely flexible hours and weekends, as required. Providing RFQ's based on findings. Perform the evaluation, inspection, and auditing of customers' shot blasting operations to develop recommendations regarding how the customer can optimize the efficiency, effectiveness, durability, longevity, and safety of any Blast Cleaning Technologies (BCT) machinery or competitor OEM machinery. Bring awareness to what BCT machinery, systems, and services the customer could purchase to achieve improved efficiency, effectiveness, etc. in its shot blasting operations. Create detailed technical reports in a timely manner regarding existing and potential customer's shot blasting operations to develop opportunities for BCT to develop service, equipment upgrades, and new equipment installation proposals for new or existing customers. Assist BCT's engineering department in discovering, developing, and acting upon opportunities to design / develop to bring to market new or improved designs, systems, and technologies that will better address customer needs. Provide after-sale support, warranty inspection, technical training, and technical advice to customers regarding the use, operation, and maintenance of their BCT machinery and systems. Assist BCT in the development / production of technical literature along with other forms of customer education to support and expand the company's engineering-based approach to the sales / service of our products. Basic mechanical knowledge and aptitude concerning industrial manufacturing machinery. Proficient computer skills Proficiency with measuring tools such as tape measure, calipers, feeler gauges, optical level, angle finders, levels, etc. Expert knowledge of hand/power tooling and proper function/usage Intermediate level understanding of electrical, hydraulic/pneumatic circuits and functions Proficiency in reading engineering prints. Education and/or Experience Technical knowledge and experience with industrial maintenance equipment repair required. Minimum two years of service or inspection experience preferred. Shotblast or other similar industrial abrasive machinery and systems preferred. This position requires regular driving. All prospective employees must have a valid, unexpired driver's license. will be required to undergo a physical evaluation. An "Unacceptable" driver is any driver whose Motor Vehicle Report includes any of the following violations ( during the most recent 3-year period unless otherwise stated ): Felony involving the use of a motor vehicle Speeding 20 or more over the posted speed limit Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DWI/DUI) In the last five years: Driving with an open container Driving with a suspended or fraudulent license Reckless driving Passing a stopped school bus Leaving the scene of an accident (hit and run) Vehicular homicide/manslaughter Aggravated assault with a motor vehicle Eluding a police officer Drag racing Operating a motor vehicle without the owner's permission (grand theft auto) Permitting an unlicensed or intoxicated driver to drive 3 or more moving violations in the last 3 years . This includes: Speeding less than 20 mph above the speed limit Operating while registration is suspended Failure to yield right-of-way Careless or inattentive driving (including texting or cell phone use) Running a red light or stop sign Improper or excessive lane changes 2 or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the last year. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Employees will frequently use material handling equipment, such as forklifts and cranes. Work Environment This job operates in a factory environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is often loud enough to require hearing protection. BCT is hiring!
