Location:
Atlanta, GA
Description:

As profiled August 26, 2011 on the DATELINE NBC story titled "Mystery on Blood Mountain". We now know that thanks to the quick action of John Tabor, of Johns Creek Georgia, murderer Gary Michael Hilton was captured before more innocent lives were lost to this deranged monster. Hilton was on a murder streak covering several states in the Fall and Winter of 2007/8. Authorities in Florida had no suspects in the disappearance and murder of Cheryl Dunlap. Likewise, Authorities in North Carolina had no suspects or persons of interest in the murders of John and Irene Bryant. However, when John Tabor watched a news report of missing hiker Meredith Emerson whom was last seen hiking with her dog on Blood Mountain in the North Georgia mountains on New Year s Day 2008, he was able to put together the facts and report to Authorities that he believed Gary Hilton may well be the person of interest. He was right. As a direct result of Tabor's quick action and setting a trap for Hilton in conjunction with the GBI and the FBI, Hilton was captured within 48 hours and his murder spree came to an immediate halt. In January 2008, Hilton plead guilty to the murder of Meredith Emerson and received a life sentence with no chance of parole. In February 2011, Hilton was found guilty of murdering Cheryl Dunlap and was sentenced to death. Hilton is currently under Federal Indictment in the murders of John and Irene Bryant in N.C. THANK YOU John Tabor for getting involved and removing this monster from our society. L. Stancil IMPORTANT UPDATE: To those whom have read the malicious and false accusations about John Tabor and his company Insulated Wall Systems: The woman responsible for these vile and evil posting, Robyn McKinney, has been held accountable. A Gwinnett county jury has found her guilty of Malicious Defamation and liable for damages to John Tabor in the amount of $550,000. This is one of the largest defamation verdicts in the history of Georgia As many of you know, Robyn McKinney used the national media firestorm surrounding the murder of Meredith Emerson to falsely claim that convicted murderer Gary Hiton had worked on her home. She then used the media spot light to maliciously defame John Tabor and his company all because he and his company had previously sued her husband Ron McKinney for failure to pay for work performed on their home resulting in a large judgment against him. 2008-02-07 ALPHARETTA AND ROSWELL REVUE & NEWS Johns Creek Resident provides lead to catch UGA hiker slayer by Jason Wright (SPECIAL/www.northfulton.com) (click for larger version) February 13, 2008 For five months, Johns Creek resident John Tabor carried a loaded .45 caliber pistol on his side at all times. 'I went to the police, but they basically said there was nothing they could do about it. So I armed myself and continued to do so until the day he was captured.' John Tabor It was an extreme but necessary measure, a sliver of comfort from the fear of being stalked by a confirmed killer. Tabor's tormentor? Gary M. Hilton, the 61-year-old drifter and confessed murderer of 24-year-old Meredith Emerson. She was the University of Georgia coed who went missing after a New Year's hike at the Blood Mountain trail in Union County. Hilton, a 10-year acquaintance and former employee, called Tabor in late August 2007 demanding money. That was five months before the world was to know the awful truth about the sometime transient, a truth brought to light by information Tabor and others furnished to authorities. "Give me $2,500 or I'll whup your [expletive]," Hilton had said in a recorded message, according to a Sept. 8 Fulton County police report. Tabor said it got worse, eventually mushrooming to demands for upwards of $10,000 and threats of murder. It was a seemingly idle threat from a man who hadn't been connected to anything more than a 12-year-old battery case on a Cobb County roommate. "I went to the ...
