Maranatha Christian Academy was established in 1978 by Bloomington Church of God, (later renamed Cathedral of Praise). Late in the fall of 1987, Cathedral of Praise reassessed its mission and ability to support a Christian school. As a result, during the 1987-1988 school year, Living Word Christian Center purchased MCA and made it an outreach of the ministry. As a distinctive and innovative Christian school, Maranatha Christian Academy is dedicated to preparing young men and women for their callings in the service of Jesus Christ.
